Posted on Angie's List. August 17,2008 John's Window Fashions, installed plantation shutters (3" slat) on 8 larger size windows in our dining room and living room. The company also fabricated and installed five custom valances for windows in the family room and eat-in kitchen, which were placed over honeycomb shades installed previously.Everything went fine. The shutters and valances were completed on time and installed promptly as promised. The appearance of the shutters after installation was even better than we expected. To provide the necessary clearance, the frame for the shutters is installed right over the window trim & molding. But you would never be able to tell except by looking up very close, it looks like the house was built that way. It looks great. Plantation shutters are very expensive, but are easy to care for and also dramatically enhance the looks of any space worth showing off. So we bit the bullet and spent the extra money. We had asked John to quote wooden blinds or shutters; he did not try to steer us into buying something more expensive, shutters were our idea. What did you like most about this contractor? Professional, businesslike and willing to give you the time necessary to make up your mind. John did not try to direct us into buying a more expensive product.
